2:30 That is an annoying sound for people with Aspergers and sound sensory problems. Also saying fast food has a link is the same as saying that being vaccinated as a child is why people have Autism.

I'm a HGV Driver with Aspies. Sounds daft to some people but on my routes there are certain lay-by's where I will always stop and grab a bacon /sausage barm and a coffee. I find this routine hard to break. If I can't stop there I find it upsets me. Not because I'm hungry or anything, just because my routine has been disrupted and then I get flustered

Interesting video. I recently changed my diet to a paleo diet after having fast food every week for the past 3 years or so. But a month in and I feel so much better. I'm also exercising and feel so much more energised. Last week I treated myself to a mcdonalds and I totally zonked out and really had to sleep, never really noticed how exhausted it made me.

Hi Dan. TOTAL kudos to you for these brilliant videos. I am starting to work my way through all of them after I only just diagnosed as Asperger's last week. at 57 yrs old! So, so, so bizarre and amazing to find out everything I've been going though all my life is actually a 'thing' and I'm not just a shy, socially-inept, geek (sometimes nerd) with an odd sense of humour and long-term memory that blows friend's minds! LOL. Keep up the great work mate. Unlike some other presenters on YouTube I can actually keep up with the speed you speak - and enjoy it - but that is probably because you speak so clearly and the words you use to explain things are really clear too. There is only one tiny, tiny thing I'd love to change and that is the 'stamp' sound you use when you put a link or logo on the screen. I'm kinda hyper-sensitive to that. Thanks again for all the work that goes into doing these vids mate. I really appreciate them.

for all my life I've been following the same repetitive diet habits, only changed by greater forces. I transitioned to a plant-based diet 2,5 years ago (that in one day). The scientific facts and evolutionary logic made me do it. But nonetheless, I've been eating exact the same three meals with minor changes since I transitioned. Sometimes I do try to make something else, (eg when time isn't on my side) but I freeze and end up skipping the meal and eventually ruining my day.

My eleven year old son was just diagnosed with ASD and I just wanted to comment on his food habits. He too eats the same thing for months at a time, such as hotdogs that have to be cooked by me and me only. They have to be partway cooked, the buns steamed and the ends must be cut off, like your friend cheese pizza is the other thing he likes but it has to come from the same pizza place. Before his diagnosis this drove me crazy but thanks to you and others I'm gaining a lot of knowledge about why he does the things he does. Thank you.

See Dr Morse on YT. robertmorsend. PhD in biochemistry, master herbalist, natural path, healer 45 years. You like the excitotoxins. anything that excites or suppresses is going to break the circuit between your central nervous system and autonomic nervous system. The idea is to detox the lymphatic system and enhance the organs and nerves. Fruit fasting is the way to go. try a 30-day grapefast your mind will work as you have never experienced. or just try it for a week. Putting lemon juice on fruit gives it added astringency to pull out mucus. Oranges are good too. You can mix up the fruit also. There's a book called The Grape Cure written in the 20's by Brent. Also see Arnold Ehret and people like that the great masters on the subject you can only go so far with vegetables they are nothing compared to fruit. You can actually rebuild nerve and tissue with fruit because of the high electrical quality of it.

To relax: studying, yay! Or arranging something in order like MY (other people's stuff is boring: this has to be about me & mine) cds or books. Although I have huge difficulty starting and stopping activities! Apart from studying, any other activities, even when I really want to do them, I have to push myself to start (then I have no stop button). The only exception is studying coz I LOVE info gathering SO much. I have so many interests but anything I get into I get obsessed with knowing all the details so in a way, even relaxing can end up exhausting! My brain is super active and really hard to switch off. Needless to say, my leisure time is most rewarding when solitary. The more solitude, the more relaxed and cheerful I feel. [Update: I just ordered pizza and fries coz of watching this lol]

Cat The Vegan Artist 1 year ago
Greetings from a fellow Aspie in Wales. 😁 I used to be Vegetarian (with the odd lapse into pesciterianism). Lasted about 2 years. Then, one night, I watched a speech on YouTube that changed everything -  Went Vegan that night. I do not wish to support or demand the needless commodification, exploitation, mutiliation, hurting, and killing, of animals for pleasure. Being on the spectrum I was convinced I would find such a change in what I ate very hard. However, with such strong ethics as the very core of Veganism, I could no longer entertain the idea of ever knowingly intentionally needlessly consuming (or wearing) any animal products any longer. After Easter 2014 I threw out all my dairy and egg containing products, and fed the last can of sardines I had left in the cupboard to my companion rats. Now - over 3 and a half years on - I still see it as the best decision I have ever made in my life, and any difficulties I might face in eating thus way is nothing compared to what the animals are forced to needlessly go through for our passing unhealthy, planet destroying, pleasures. Yes, there are many many other things I could do and change in my life to benifit my health and the health if the planet, but being Vegan is, as I see it now, the LEAST we can do - for the animals, ourselves, and the planet. 🙂 The only thing I regret about going Vegan is not doing it many many years sooner.

I believe my 3 yr old girl is a Aspie, and you give me great insight to her issues around food. Thanks! (She was diagnosed with failure to thrive aged 1.5yrs and meal times are always a struggle) She loves processed foods, which I'm trying to illuminate unless eating out (to give her something familiar). I'm vegan, and so she eats a whole food plant based diet at home as much as possible. I've found this has really helped her hyperactivity. Is it true that most people on the spectrum have an intolerance to dairy?

Im babysitting a kid with Autism right now and he has been begging for food for the past 4 hours. I fed him so much already that i know if i feed him more he will throw up. I think the problem is that he isnt hungry but he wants to taste and feel food in his mouth. Ive been watching him eat and he rolls food across his tongue and it seems that he actually savors his food much more so than anyone i know. Basically i cant keep up and he is only 4 years old. Im so tired and its only ~3:00pm! It seems like he needs to take in a lot of information to stay calm, information like light and sound, smell and taste. Honestly its kinda incredible. In some areas he learns so fast but in others it takes forever, like breaking habits is damn near impossible but learning something new is no problem. Anyways, if anyone has any tips it would help me out a lot. So far he hasnt had a tantrum on me, he has cried a few times but nothing too serious.
Rita Muppet 14 days ago
Mark Marcus is it possible that the child also has Prader Willi's Syndrome? I've known 2 people with PWS and they don't get that signal in their brain to tell them that they are full and to stop eating. They are always hungry and would eat themselves to death if not supervised.

Dan, have you read the book Wheat Belly by William B. Davis? I highly recommend it to everyone. What we call wheat is not actually true wheat; it has been so horribly mutated and modified and chemically treated -and all without testing for human consumption, that we are just starting to see the problems. No. 1 is inflammation of all body systems. No.2 is insulin response. Wheat has a highly addictive property and functions as an appetite stimulant. I have been wheat free for a few weeks now and I'm am surprised at how much more enjoyable life is: no sugar roller coaster, no brain fog, no digestive pains, no food cravings, better concentration, less anxiety, and on and on. Please read this book and share with your followers. It is written by a cardiologist and backed up with real science -Science the food industry has known for awhile but doesn't want you to learn! Why else is wheat so ubiquitous, especially in processed foods. You are definitely on to something in this video, but not all the way there yet.

Tiffany Victoria Horan 1 year ago
I recently changed my diet so that I would get more nutrients etc. because eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner wasn't very healthy for me, so I can relate to your video! At university, I kept a diary and it was so bad I threw it away. I didn't want anyone to see how poor my eating habits were. I think when I developed a wheat allergy and I realized how much food I wasn't allowed to eat, I started focusing more on what was in my food. I'm used to it now and there are loads of alternatives. I suppose it's a bit like being a vegetarian, there are always alternatives to meat and there are always alternatives to wheat!

Griselle Zapata 1 year ago
Deformed Ron hi. Don't know if you found the answer to your question, but no, you don't have to be autistic to stim. Could be a sensory processing issue. Anxiesty can cause stimming as a way to cope. Hope that helps :)

You are very welcome. Can stimming NOT be related to autism as well though and do you know if there's a link between stimming and anxiety. Sorry to be a bother it's just I'm trying to understand myself better and you seem to know what your talking about :D Thank you again.

I found it so hard to give up processed/fast food because of the routine aspect, and probably all the casein/refined sugars etc. But been around years vegan now and still have a food routine/things I eat every day without fail but it tends to be homemade stuff that I make in bulks then freeze, and natural healthy foods (with the exception of junk food treats, my weakness is vegan donuts haha) and my ADHD has improved so much. Less depressive episodes, less exhaustion. Then the physical benefits have been tremendous also. But yeah I remember liking maccy D's cos you knew exactly what u were gonna get haha. Probably the only good thing about it 😅

+Anna Moomin Yeah totally get that, it's awesome to control ADHD with food as it helps so much. Hope you are doing well Anna, we haven't spoke for s few years. :).

I eat Hungry Man (frozen food) for lunch every day. I buy a different box but it's always a Hungry Man.
