Media is not as powerful as they think they are. Trump is still a president despite all the slander and propaganda by MSM. Bias is so obvious that it is producing counter effect. Trump may do a lot of things wrong but when CNN is telling that then Trump must be doing something right.

Actually they gave him millions in free media. While doing everything to hide Bernie. They even covered his empty podium while Bernie was having a rally.

Chomsky Forgets Manufacturing Consent! Noam is very forgetful nowadays with old age, forgetting that he himself became part of the left wing Flack machine. He came here in Brasil to defend ex president Lula that is in jail after being convicted in three judicial courts of Brazilian law system for leading a corruption scheme and receiving many bribes and basically ruining Brazil's economy while posing of populist leader of a prosper country.

My only critique of this video is the use of communism as an example of the 'boogieman', because communism cost millions of lives and it is still an acceptable idea in the minds of many and the driving force in governments like Venezuela, where it is once again starving the people. It is something we need to talk about in depth and understand just how bad it really is.

Actually this is from Noam Chomsky. They're still right. You should educate yourself in this subject. An uneducated populist is how you end up with such corruption.

Hello every one,we can see some comments describing this video itself as a propaganda, let me please ask you a few question : isn't it irrational to find a media teaching you how to analyse the incredibility of media itself?,so don't they teach you how to use your mind?how to reveal their secrets?so isn't it an act of objectivity? My regards.

American politics is more important than god. Love of country is more important than the love of humanity. Collective privilege trumps individual privilege. Propaganda are spread by deceitful individual in the hope of blind conformity.

Quick idea: do these machines necessarily have to be one per nation? For instance, Fox News presents a different world to viewers than MSNBC during primetime. I suspect that these filters are impacted by, but different from, each other in how they shape different networks or organisations.

One interesting dynamic in the manufacturing of consent is that corporations factor into the cost of their products the cost of advertising. So when we buy a product we are paying the corporation for three things - 1. The actual physical cost of making the product (materials + labor costs) - 2. Advertising - 3. Surplus Labor (AKA Profit). So we the consumer, are actually paying corporations to convince us (and other consumers) to buy their products. And the profits are only possible if corporations buy the cheapest materials and pay labor the lowest amount possible. One great example I like to use are famous - Nike shoes. When a Nike Shoe arrives at a US port - shipped from China - the cargo manifest values one pair of shoes at $1.50. The $1.50 is the cost of materials + cost of paying people to make the shoe + shipping it to the US. Then they put it in the stores - and sell it to you for $200. Out of the $200 you have to minus the $1.50 and the shipping cost from port to store and the labor cost of the sales staff who sell you the shoe. And Nike has factored into the $200 the cost of advertising. but Nike still makes huge profits. And another thing I discovered recently - Nike attributes profits per shoe in two parts - the physical shoe and the branding on the shoe. They attribute part of the profit of the shoe comes from the branding - so they have an offshore company own the branding on the shoe - so part of the profit on each shoe has to be paid to this offshore company - thus they avoid paying taxes on that part of the profit. So not only do we the consumer pay corporations to convince us to buy their products - we also pay the corporation to offshore the profits to countries with low taxes - so they can avoid paying taxes in the country where they sell the shoe. The manufacturing of consent, is truly global and who suffers and who benefits? Well we the consumer suffer - because the taxes that went offshore don't get paid to our government - thus our government cannot afford to spend money on the things that we the consumers need. And the lowly paid worker who made the shoe suffers. And our government suffers - and our communities suffer. So my advice is - stop buying global brands. stop enabling them. stop the cycle of manufacturing consent.

The most successful manufactured consent today is the US military is great. Nobody is complaining that the US is broke and the best way to save itself from bankruptcy is to stop going to war with other nations.

Heh, filter 4 - popup on YouTube - (i) - Al Jazeera is funded in whole or in part by the Qatari government - wikipedia link. Also a bit of filter 5. Best thing - IMO - if we fix this mess is to put in a publicly funded system the elites can't touch. Comparative cost like PBS, maybe more. Essentially a shaving off a roll of pennies compared to the bombs and invasions and occupations and tax breaks to the Koch bros. But there'd be rules on what could be labeled 'media' And there'd be public funding from taxes for official media outlets BUT -there'd be strict rules keeping journalists from having any political connection, payouts, jobs later or just before in politics. In RL - btw - both MSNBC and FOX among others have re-classified themselves as entertainment to escape the few post Fairness Doctrine rules remaining. But they don't have disclaimers showing themselves as entertainment.

Saying that the media sleeps in bed with the power elites is not very accurate because the media is actually OWNED by peoples who are members of the power elites; that is the media is the mouth piece of the invisible governments behind the shadows in the west.

It is a total disgrace for a nation that is free to have allowed corporations such as Johnson and Johnson to have bought my children and subliminally sell to me as sexual slaves. Endless advertisements on YouTube and Facebook with subliminal messages to broadcast the sell of my children, nephews and nieces. This sell would be a trade off for employment and the restoration of my civil rights. It will be given year at the end of July since I filed for divorce from my ex wife. The court of Union County, New Jersey has not adjudicated my petition, instead they had arrested me and put me in jail for 2 days. Subsequently, they placed levies on my bank account and effectively shut them down. The US Internal Revenue Service also joined in and placed levies on my bank accounts. All the while, these subliminal advertisements were still on going. It's been four years since my last formal job as an engineer. I have been denied any time of employment from any prospective employer, even if it is a waiter or a material handler at a local restaurant or company. I have sustained a subsistence living by means of a business dividend. As a republic democracy, we have failed in more respects. Not only the rule of law did not protect me, it has failed to protect people elsewhere in the land. Those are suffering from the tyranny of the collusion of corporations. All aspects of American lives are now controlled by the corporations. They are in full control of the government and the people. They elect public servants into office to serve their interests and their interests do not coincide with those of the people. On the eve of the 4th of July, I feel a disheaterned sense of hopelessness, of absolute abandonment and of neglectful betrayal. The very people, that I tried to protect, have colluded to persecute me. On the day of the 4th of July, Americans celebrates and salutes their flag. The emblem that represents purity, innocence, bravery and valor is now representative of oppression and tyranny. While, I deeply respect those who fought and died for it and what it used to represent, I feel a great deal of sorrow to see it flies. Americans. Galvanize ourselves to reclaim our government, our state, our community, our schools and other institutions. Voice for the voiceless. See for those who cannot. Fight for those who are disabled. We are armed by the provisions in the declaration of independence and the constitution of the land. Our inherent unalienable rights must not be taken away. If we let that happen, our democratic republic shall no longer exist. Bleed if we must. Die if we must. To our last breath that we take, we must so that democracy is restored. And only then upcoming generations of Americans can be assured of a better nation , a better future. Only then, the next wave if Americans can collectively deal with existential threats of nuclear wars, global warming and other pandemic threats that we face. Only then, we can once again lead the world as our role remains extremely important in all aspects of international affairs. Only then, our allies shall entrust themselves in our leadership. Rise up, Americans. Rise and galvanize what is left within our tank of liberty and democracy to forge a force that nothing is too big to be defeated. And only then, we shall be proudly say we are free. Once again we are free.
