+Sam Desmond yesss!! When he's explaining what happened in the beginning of the first episode he never looks up at the camera and instead of just explaining he acts out certain parts. Like where he was sitting or standing - as if he's trying to see if it fits with his story.
Brianna Marie 16 days ago
This was the first time i heard of this case. I watched the entire podcast and just started the Netflix series. After viewing the scene for the first time i found it odd that he assumed she fell when he found her. With the amount of blood i would have thought it was an attack. I also wonder if she had any defense wounds? Its hard to think she wouldn't have fought back if she was attacked.

I have no doubt he is guilty. His character, analysed alone, leads me to believe this. He is grandiose and narcissistic; believes himself too intelligent to be caught. I can't watch him without feeling very unwell! An arch manipulator exposed!!

I loooovvveeee you guys. But I do wish y'all werent already biased to he did it right from the beginning. I freaking love you guys tho
yo gurl ally. 1 day ago
Definitely guilty. It literally makes no sense. You would not fall backwards while walking up the steps unless you were pushed. I can see slipping while going down the steps and hitting each step while going down though. I also don’t understand the blood splatters. If any blood, it would have to come from the head and pool around her when she reached the bottom. Maybe some blood left behind on the edge of each stair? That’s all I can understand though.
Kristina J 2 days ago
I just got around to watching this podcast as usual Im always behind bc of work. However there is far more evidence to support him being guilty than anything else. Especially the case with Elizabeth. It's just too close to Kathleens case. I had never heard of this case which surprises me. But it is an extremely unusual one with a ton of questioning aspects. The owl alone is confusing as ever. The firepoker. The blood splatter. The former Elizabeth case. So so so many questions and not enough answers. But I feel without a doubt he is guilty of having some part in her death. Now how he did it. Not completely sure of the details its just too confusing with all the weird unexplained elements compiled. But great job as always! 💖💖💖
Bethany Whisel 3 days ago
Maybe it was a combination of Mike and an owl? Maybe Kathleen was attacked by an owl and Mike tried to help her get rid of it? Idk though, it might be a long shot 🤷🏼‍♀️
H307 56 7 days ago
Its pretty simple actually, if he walked in on her AFTER she fell, he shouldnt have any blood spatters on him.
H307 56 7 days ago
I dont if i was biased bc of what kendall Said in the beginning about the documentary but never heard of this case and didnt know anything about it but when i heard the 911 call i was like what a weird thing to say ”shes still breathing” like if a family membrer fell and was laying in a pool of blood in front of me all i would say is ”please please please.” or something like that, i mean my brain would shut down completely. And then again when he Said “15 20 steps I DONT KNOW” it sounded so fake and Not genuine and exaggerated.

First podcast I have listened to from you guys, great job. Love the balance. New subscriber here! PS: I went back and fourth the entire series on whether or not he did it. I still have not been able to make up my mind about it. something just doesn't seem right with him and gives me a little shiver up my spine about the whole thing. But in the end, it does come down to the evidence. Though I am uncertain as to whether or not he committed this atrocity, I am CERTAIN that he did not commit this crime beyond a reasonable doubt. because there is a lot of doubt in this case and to be certain enough that he did it to put him away for the rest of his life is dumbfounding for me. Great episode! on to the next one.

I feel the only way he will confess is when his life is about to end. and even looking at the crime photos, he 100% did it and its sad that kathleen won't ever get justice :(

Hey could you source the music track at the start ? What is it called. What I've been thinking is a good idea is for it to be mandatory for videos on YT to source the music they use in the decription box and that would take away to the need to ban any videos or issues about copyrights. That way all artists get the promotion they need and they all get equal opportunities for publicity. I want 10% of the proceeds of this idea when it get's executed !! ><

Innocent. The judicial system is a mind screw in this case. His kids love him that can’t be acted. There was total reasonable doubt. Even the judge agreed. His sister in laws were wacky and just angry, they didn’t want to hear anything. I would have hung that jury. Especially after Henry lee took the stand and gave his testimony. He’s brilliant.

I just don't see how he's innocent.. I mean, I guess we can't know _for sure._ and no one should be punished without sufficient evidence. But damn, i have a realllll hard time thinking he's not guilty. P.S. This my first time really hearing the details of this case.

Please look into the erika baker story. She went missing 20 years ago. Its such an interesting story and this story needs light shed on it. She was never found and some think her parents did it. I just wish someone anyone would help this little girl to be found so she can rest in peace. She was eleven when she went missing.

I think he's 100% guilty. I don't see how anyone can get past that she bled to death for at least 1.5-2 hours. Even if she fell or an owl attacked her, where was Michael for that length of time? why did he take his shoes off? why did she have a shoe print on the back of her pants? why did he assume she fell down the stairs? If i walked in to my house and saw my husband covered in blood with blood ALL over the walls etc, I would not assume he fell. I'd think there was someone in my house. Also why did he hang up on the 911 operator twice? why was their blood outside in the front? I mean so many whys. I found his 911 call totally rehearsed too. I think he beat her head into the stairs with his hands.

I want so badly for him to not be guilty, but I just don’t know. I have doubts either way.

I totally believe he did it. The crime scene pictures have strange anomalies such as the blood spray on the lowest step even though her head is high above it, the blood on the soles of her feet, the foot print on the back of her leg even though she’s lying face up, the washed out blood on his trousers. There is no way, something happened and it wasn’t her tripping down the stairs!
Megan coulter 1 month ago
I watched the staircase with my mom and sister and we still talk about it months later. They’re pretty sure he’s innocent but I think he did it. I just don’t think he did it the way the prosecution said he did and that’s why he got away with it.

There was a case here in south africa where a boy killed his sister and parents. They were shot but there was also an obvious struggle. He claimed innocence and seemed like a lucky survivor claiming to be in the barn when the attacker arrived. But when they did DNA testing on his sister, they found his blood on her and on his shirt from a nosebleed during the struggle. They absolutely should have done DNA testing, who knows what they would have found.
Kierra Stanley 2 months ago
The documentary also states that Kathleen was heading to bed, not to the kitchen to get a drink.
Kierra Stanley 2 months ago
The crime scene photographers or what ever they're called moved Kathleen for the picture. So the only photos there are of her dead are when she was moved.

could it have been a hitman situation? he could have hired someone to do kill kathleen, as he sat outside. i don’t entirely believe that, but it’s a theory 🤔 i personally believe that he is guilty tho

commenting early on. so im sure ill have a few other comments. but saying she is still breathing i feel is a normal reaction. like hey hurry the fuck up. she is still breathing. like she hit her head so this is obviously bad. kind of situation. also. the dispatcher always asks if the person is still breathing. if they are awake all of that.

He injuries are sufficient with the amount of blood. If you cut your head it bleeds soooo much and very quickly so the amount of blood was deffo caused because of her head insjuries

Alexis Guffey 2 months ago
what if michael put the feathers and pine needles in Kathleen's hand to make it look as if an owl attacked her?
Kathleen Castle 2 months ago
What if she lost her center of gravity and fell backwards walking/running up the stairs, hit the back of her head, but instead of her body flipping over or tumbling all around, it simply slid straight down, so only her head kept hitting the stairs? That would have definitely damaged the neck, especially with the added weight of her body pushing down on her fragile head. That makes sense with the position of her body, and the injuries on the back of her arms. Expectations aren’t always what you get. He may have done it but there is doubt. Maybe he thought she was breathing out of hope or what not. and maybe he touched his bloody hands inside of his pants.
Kathleen Castle 2 months ago
What a stupid question how many stairs. what? 911 drives me crazy with their stupid questions
Kathleen Castle 2 months ago
I heard she showed signs that she had been dead a while and couldn’t possibly have still been breathing. Is that not correct? Like rigor mortis not just dried blood. The blood could be that he didn’t find her immediately
Kathleen Castle 2 months ago
A person very easily could fall backwards walking up the stairs. Once you’ve lost your center of gravity, that’s it. The blood spatter resembled other falls down stairs. The head wounds could have resulted from multiple blows to the head from the stairs
Sharon Fields 2 months ago
You have to remember that they were another generation of people. They grew up in the time of racism no same sex relationships, out in the open. I'm sure Kathleen was hurt if she felt betrayed and was going to out him. He probably felt anger and humiliation. Now, no one cares who has sex with whom. It's 2018. Just the difference in generations.

Our stairs are very narrow and very steep. We often fall up and down and have been known to be walking up, lose our balance and feel ourselves falling back but have been able to correct ourselves or grab the hand rail to stop ourselves and we’re 2 people in our early 20’s. How would this be for someone in later years?

I guess if you where at the top of the stairs and step on something like a skateboard of a piece of cloth you could slip backward, I've fallen down my stairs and other people stairs a lot of times because I'm very clumsy or because I was fucking around and just decided to go downstairs wearing rollerblades, nothing to big ever happened to me, at the very least some bruises and cuts that's because when you fall your instinct is to sit and not to lay down avoiding your head to hit the steps or as you said to fall on your hands

I think he saw the owl attack her himself but figured no one would ever believe him so he just decided to roll the dice with the fall story
Bojana Kristina 3 months ago
I really do believe that he is guilty. But WHAT IF the previosly mentioned owl attacked her while she was outside, and then she came into the house, started going up the stairs and then fell? That could maybe explain the bleeding and the blood on the walls. (Sorry for bad english, it's not my first language).
xercesawake 3 months ago
First episode, my initial reaction was that he absolutely did it. That’s so much blood. Then as it went on I definitely had doubts. As strange as there being two deaths at the bottom of a set of stairs in this mans lifetime, I think that alone doesn’t mean that he has some kind of modus operandi. After finishing the series, I am just haunted by it. I really don’t know if he did it or not. I think he showed that he was perfectly able to disassociate from reality at times. I think he could have killed her but is able to completely disassociate from the person in him that did do this to his wife. I think once I reached the episode where he tried to explain what happened that night, and it didn’t make much sense, and finding out that he lied during the trial about his wife knowing he was bi, I looked at him differently. I had serious doubt about his guilt through most of the series but now I have serious doubt about his innocence.

When it comes to falling down the stairs and having a lot of blood the head is very venous and the smallest cut can bleed a pint. I think Micheal did it but the amount of blood probably could come from a fall.

I watched the netflix documentary. Todd gave me a weird vibe, I wish they would have talked about him more. Also, I had the thought, what if his daughters were actually biologically his. Maybe he had an affair with their mom? Maybe that's motive for the mothers death. Sorry if that all was covered already, just some wild thoughts

The thing that makes me feel like he is guilty is the shoe print on the back of her pants. it seems like he either help her down while he hit her, or he kicked her down the stairs, something. I feel like you guys didn't touch on that bit much.

I think she was going inside to go to bed, and an owl came down and attacked her. The lacerations on her head could be form the owls claws. She went inside and tried to go upstairs but fell down and passed out and that’s how she died. Just my opinion. I have seen articles that said the neighbors know of owls that are around that area and have attacked people before. Look into this theory it’s very interesting!
